By Natalie Polanco So I did some number crunching today. (For anyone who knows me and my relationship with numbers, this is a huge deal. But work with me for a second.) A lot of people would kill for a $20 an hour job, right? Well when you work out the numbers, that's really not even 40k a year...that's if you're working forty hours. A decent education at a state university costs about that just for one year of tuition and expenses. Then there's taxes. Gas. RENT. Phone. Kids...if you have any. (If you do, I'm praying for you.) I could go on and on. In NYS, it's almost impossible to actually live comfortably off a 40 hour work-week...that's IF you're getting at least $20 an hour. I'm an artist. It takes me about 5 hours to complete any one GOOD piece of art, that I'd sell for about $300-$500. I could make that SAME 40k living (and pay less in taxes) off just selling just 8 pieces a month, and I could do it in my SPARE TIME. (Just 45 hours a month.) MORAL OF THE STORY: Not saying we all have to be artists...but what if you could find SOMETHING that you could do in your spare time that could DOUBLE your income? Not a second job, but something you and only YOU control? THAT'S how you win at life people. #HappyWednesday Natalie Polanco 22. And such a simple question occasionally prompts me to think very deeply.
Which would you like to add...time or value? In the case of the metro card, I always choose time because it gives me more value. I take the subway at least three times a day for 5 days straight ($2.75 × 3...is $8.25 × 5...is $41.25 ) so buying a weekly saves me $10.25 at least. But in real life, every day I choose value. Why? Simple, because value can be created whenever you want and however you want. When it comes to times we have no real choice. We never know when our clocks will stop ticking. And when my time is up my value will always remain and continue to shine through. This year we lost many influencers, loved ones and amazing humans who created tremendous value that will live on past their time and even our time. #Prince #MuhammadAli #PulseOrlando How are you adding value?
